Your subscribers want to know that their information is safe with you. You should place an privacy policy on your opt in form so that your new subscribers cannot miss it. Including a description of your privacy policy in every email you send out is even better. The mere fact that you are concerned about their privacy might make subscribers comfortable enough to purchase your products instead of deleting your email. One of the best ways to send out very targeted e-mails is to use the demographics from the information that you get when they sign up for your newsletter. If you have, for example, a service that only applies to people in a certain demographic, this will prevent you from wasting time with those not in this category. If your product is best for men, sending it to the women on your list will just show that you aren't paying attention. Targeting specific demographics will be very beneficial to your e-mail marketing campaigns every time. The last thing you want is to look like you don't actually care who your subscribers truly are.

Sometimes, you can have quite a few bad e-mail addresses on your list. This requires regular pruning. Most people have more than one e-mail address. This will allow them use bogus ones on your list which need to be removed. These days people have multiple email addresses and migrate from one to the other at a moments notice.
